Yoga with Props (Intermediate)

Mondays 5:30-7:00 pm

This intermediate class is designed for students to increase strength and flexibility using Iyengar props. Back-bending benches and wall ropes are utilized in this challenging class. This class is recommend for experienced students only.

During this class we will be working with the breath, learning how to begin a safe and weekly progression towards improved breathing techniques.

Most people never learn to use the full capacity of their lungs. Shallow breathing leads to ill health and poor performance. Pranayama techniques help to make the respiratory organs move and expand. This discipline helps the mind to concentrate and enable the student to attain robust health.

Yoga for Back Pain

Gentle Yoga

Wednesdays 5:30-7:00 pm

Gentle Yoga is designed to complement your regular Hatha or Ashtanga Yoga practice. This class is all about slowing down and stretching your muscles deeply. The postures will be performed in a laying or sitting position and will be held for an extended period of time, generally 3-5 minutes per posture. Yin is the female energy in the body and it works to promote deep relaxation, flexibility and healing of the body and mind.

Yoga with Props (All Levels)

Introduction for beginners in using props to open, expand and fully prepare the body in forward bends, which dissolves tightness in the hamstrings, buttocks and lower back. Back-bending postures using the benches improve elasticity and suppleness in the hips. This class can improve strength and flexibility in the back and can help alleviate back discomfort.

Hatha Yoga (All Levels)

This is a gentle beginner class, to improve overall flexibility and posture. You will notice an increase in your energy and breathing capacity. This class is suitable for beginners and newer students wanting to gain a better understanding of the postures.

Hatha Yoga (Mixed Levels)

This hatha yoga class is suitable for all levels of students. Poses in the class are designed to expand the chest and remove stiffness in the shoulder and the neck. This class will help you to feel rejuvenated and to bring balance to the body and mind.

Power Yoga

This class is based on the sequenced primary Ashtanga yoga series with focused breathing techniques. Prepare for a heated energy class of cleansing and toning for the body, mind and senses. This challenging class can improve heath and promote weight loss.

In this class you will gain a deeper understanding of the yoga postures. Emphasis will be on alignment and concentration. This class will promote strength and flexibility and invigorate blood circulation to reveal a renewed self.

Join us for a yoga vacation staying the private accommodations of the Villas Las Ventanas situated on Costa Rica’s Gold Coast. The local community hosts a great selection of boutique hotels and restaurants for your enjoyment. The local beach village warmly welcomes visitors to enjoy their amazing Pacific beaches.

Ken will be teaching a two hour yoga session every morning 6am – 8am and evening 6pm – 8pm

Cost per person: $1700. Canadian plus airfare.
